Soap Folk began in 2018 when Fiona started making soap at her kitchen table in the Stroud Valleys, looking for something gentle enough for her own children. When a local boutique put out a call for a soap maker, something clicked and a small collection wrapped in patterned paper became a business.
A workshop followed, then wholesale orders, then a National Trust listing in 2021. The commute to the workshop still hasn't changed: a steep walk over common land, across a cattle grid, and down into the valley.
The range has now expanded into skincare, textiles and ceramics, but the sustainable approach hasn't changed. Everything is still made by a small team using natural ingredients and traditional methods in the same corner of Stroud where it all began.
